Confessions
of a Struggling Parent – 3 week class
Have you ever wondered about what kind of parent you are, or
would like to be? Whether your children are toddlers or
grown with children of their own, a parent’s role plays a
vital part in the lives of our children. And while we may
not always get it right, the good news is that we can be
headed in the right way and can always get back on track
with God’s direction.
Sunday starting Sept 12th at 9:30.
Jim
& Casper Go To Church – 6 week class
“Is this what Jesus told you guys to do?” Atheist Matt
Casper wants to know!
In 2006, Jim Henderson hired Casper to join him in visiting
12 of America’s best-and least-known churches, including
Rick Warren’s Saddleback and Joel Osteen’s Lakewood. Follow
along with Jim and Casper on their visits, and eavesdrop as
they discuss what they found.
Join us starting Wednesday, September 8 as we “Re-Think”
church from a different perspective.
Getting
a Grip – 6 week class
Ever felt like your life was like a car on ice – rear wheels
fishtailing, steering useless, brakes ineffective?
Getting a Grip guides you toward wise choices and
disciplined action in five vital areas of your life: your
time, your health, your finances, your spiritual life and
your relationships. As you learn what the Bible has to say
about each of these, you’ll discover how able and eager
Jesus is to help you obtain solid traction on the road of
life.
Family In Christ
– 4 week class
Answering the basic questions for what it means to be a
member of the family that Christ called the church, we will
explore what we need to know about United Methodists and our
local congregation. Sometimes called a “new member class,”
we will discuss the Christian essentials and become familiar
with the ways the church becomes family. Class begins
Wednesday, September 8.
Tower
Café
Beginning on Sunday, September 12 at 9 AM you
will be able to enjoy cappuccinos, lattes, espressos,
smoothies, bagels and muffins. The Tower Café in fellowship
hall will be the place to be every Sunday morning between 9
am and 10:30 am. Seating will be around separate tables
(some designed for discussions topics, others just for
conversation.) In addition, we will be serving biscuits and
gravy on September 12th and “made to order” omelets on
September 26th. There will be Wi-Fi access for your use
during café hours as well. Plan to bring your friends, a few
dollars to buy a great breakfast and/or beverage, and a
smiling face.
Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club will meet at 9 AM on Saturday, September
4th at Honker’s Restaurant. No reservations necessary.
Holy Land 2011
This ten day trip begins February 8, 2011, with stops at
the key sites related to the life and ministry of Jesus,
including the Sea of Galilee, Nazareth, Jericho, Bethlehem,
the River Jordan and more. Pastor Carolyn and her husband
Dennis will be taking a group from our church. This could be
a perfect opportunity to respond to a time of spiritual
growth in your life. Think about it and talk to Pastor
Carolyn for more information.

Yarn needed
If you have leftover yarn
that you don’t know what to do with, Margaret Stout can put
it to good use. She makes lap robes for the Veteran’s
Hospital. Contact Margaret for more details.
Math mentors needed at Beiger
The 4th, 5th and 6th grade teachers at Beiger Elementary
(our adopted school) have worked out a math schedule which
we feel will help work productively with their students.
Since these students will share a common math time, they
welcome volunteers to work with students in various
classrooms. The math schedule is:
Monday (9-10:15 am); Tuesday (1:15-2:30 pm); Wednesday
(1:15-2:15 pm); Thursday (1:15-2:30 pm); and Friday (9-10:15
am). Contact Pastor Carolyn with any questions, or to
volunteer.

- New underwear for
men and women
All of these items can
be delivered to the Family Life Center, 432 S. Lafayette

welcome to drop off donations at any time. You will receive
a receipt at the front desk for these tax-deductible

Entering the hospital?
If you or a family member enters the hospital, please notify
the church office. Privacy laws prevent the hospitals from
contacting churches unless you specifically request that
they do so, and then it doesn’t always happen. If you know
ahead of time, such as a scheduled surgical procedure, call
us with the date and we will make note of it.
